Topic: Who plays a GFI Student Model on Gigs?? |

Am I the only one thinking of doing this?? I have a nice GFI Student or economy model with 3&3, sounds great, kind of feels like a 'push pull' to me & sounds better than the pro model [which is not a GFI] that I own! These have a nice appearance & are fairly sturdy for a student model. Would I be the only one out there using one on gigs?? Or do I have company??
With these GFI's you could have a couple of them in different colors and still not have to break the bank to own em!!

I have one and I agree it should do fine for a gig. I kept mine after I upgraded for a spare.Have not had the need to use it at a gig yet,but I would not hesitate.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few other GFI student guitars doing gigs. I've never had the pleasure on owning a GFI, but I did play a number of jobs in my early days on an Emmons student guitar (3P-1K). It got me by just fine until I was able to afford a used Emmons PP (3P-4K).
If it plays and sounds good to you and has the pulls you need to get the job done - great! I don't really think it matters if it's a Pro model or student model. Sounds like you got yourself a winner!

Fred, thanks for the response. I have two single neck MSA's, a Red Baron and a Sidekick. The Red Baron belonged to a dear friend of mine who passed away at far too early of an age, it will be with me forever. I also played some of my favorite all time gigs with the Red Baron on Broadway when I lived in Nashville. Everybody kidded me about playing a student model, but I really enjoyed playing it, although, nobody ever wanted to sit in,LOL. I will probably have to sell the Sidekick first to be able to afford the GFI, but I have heard nothing but great things about these steels and I will probably upgrade as soon as I can afford it.
