I got an email from Lloyd.
It is from about 4 years ago at a BMI Awards with some of the Legends in the music industry.

Bill -

Thanks for the info relative to the photo.

If BMI was smart, they would've given Lloyd an award as a Legend in the Music Business.

Years ago, when I started playing steel guitar, I told my teacher that, for E9 stuff, I wanted to play like Lloyd, John Hughey, and Ralph Mooney.

He's only got one eye, but it felt like a drill bit, when he gave me that Jack Elam one-good-eye stare, and said, "who doesn't?"

Sorta like asking b0b for a banjo...

A very cool picture. I firmly agree... I'm glad we still have Lloyd around. A pioneer and master of our instrument to be sure. Also, a great guy to talk to. It was Lloyd, Curly and "The Big E" who ignited my desire to play the steel guitar in the 60s.

Sincerely,
Chris "Tiny" Olson

Lloyd is very good friend of mine. He is playing way better these days than he has ever had. Such a nice guy too. Innovative he is.

and still, after all these years, one and only, Mr. Nashville Sound .... tons of class, and originality ...nothing against new fast picking generation, but where did class, originality and taste go...???

I am working on a new recording of steel instrumentals and had Lloyd come in and grace a track with his touch. He is playing incredibly well; soulful, tasteful...yes classy. And what a gentleman. Thank you Lloyd.
