Ok, there aren't many Model T Fords around anymore, but thats the best analogy I could think of when I saw this .
How many thousand did Gibson make ?
They must be the commonest lapsteel around. |

| The BR-9 is certainly in the running as the most commonplace lap steel, although I think it gets a serious run from the National Chicagoan and the later Dynamic models. Of course, there are also untold thousands of m.o.t.s. Dickersons too. Another question: what are some of the rarest production models? I have a National Clipper (beautiful guitar!), and have never seen even a photo of another one, even though the model is listed in the Gruhn guide. Any others floating around out there? |

There is nothing "rare" about this model. I have seen them in pawn shops and even one of my students has this model. I can say this about it, it's sure not as good as the EH150
model of earlier days. This particular guitar as shown looks to be in beautiful mint condition which may account for the term "rare" ... ? [This message was edited by George Keoki Lake on 20 May 2001 at 10:01 PM.] |

| Mick: Rare, as in a total of 98 made. Not one, but two of those aluminum EH's turned up in a small-town music store I deal with, a couple of hours' drive from Toronto. Of course, this was the same store where an old woman walked through the door with a National tricone under each arm, wanting to know if "these old tin guitars are worth anything"(!) |

| $3010.00 says it is "rare" indeed! Quite a price for a 6 string guitar. I saw one of these at one of the conventions in Winchester, IN., years ago and it was in much worse shape than this beauty. But man, what a price! |

There are so many BR9's for sale at EBay I actually stopped clicking on any Gibson Lap Steels that dont have the model number listed cause they were almost always BR9's.

The one on Ebay looks mint, but even so thats a heck of a price.

This ad really shows their knowledge of the instrument doesn't it ?????
The ad stated " icludued are the pics (spelled wrong?) and THE METAL THING" (bar perhaps? )
