Hi, Dick ... Dale sent me a text on my iPhone saying, "Go to the forum and explain to Dick what I was doing at 2 minutes and 41 seconds please you can explain it better than I it's your lick." 
Where he starts the slur on the fifth string at that spot, he's releasing the A pedal after striking 5 and, letting them ring as he picks them, strike the 6th string with B pedal, string 7 while slowly lowering it a whole tone and, while it's lowering, raising string 10 a whole tone to counterpoint each other.
It's using the B pedal, knee lever lowering string 7 a whole tone and the A pedal.

Thanks gentlemen for the kind comments... I really got a kick out trying this song, and learn something new from each new song I try... Hopefully, one day I’ll put it all together and start improving... I can’t put a finger on it, but do feel improvements on the way.

Jim thanks for explaining that for me... I actually had to go and sit down at my steel to see if that’s what I was doing...  ... IT WAS!!!... I might add that the the 7th string lower and A pedal are done at the same time, as I’m trying to get them to arrive at there respective destinations at the same time, and while thats going on trying to only lightly strike the 10th string, so as not to overpower the rest of that lick... Sometimes I get it sometimes I don’t... I’ve really gotten to love this lick and thank you for it... I’ll keep looking for places to use it.

Dick, I raise my 7th as well, both to G and G# on my RKR... I lower the 7th to E on a staggered LKL... You sure are correct about it always being somethin... This guitar came with the 6th string raising all the way to B on that staggered KL, but I didn’t know how to use it so I changed it to the 7th Lower... since then, I thought I might want to try and play with that raise to B and since I rarely use the 5th string lower on the VKL, I put the B change on that... I find 1/2 pedaling or slanting on the 5th a little more comfortable anyhow... But yeah... everything is a compromise, and since my theory knowledge is lacking, so that I’m unable to just look at a copedent and see all the possibilities that copedent has waiting for me, I must experiment and just hunt and peck...LOL

Dick, I use that 7th string lower in a lot of ways, but my favorite application for it is the counterpoint between it and the 5th and/or 10th string raise.
Here's a tune where I do the 7th string lower, 5/10th string raise twice ... once at 2:41 and again at 3:08.

Sorry for the high key register ... this was the first time we played the song after learning our parts and right before we kick the song, Ty says, "Oh, by the way, guys, I can't do it E flat, we're going to have to do it in B" (or something like that). LOL Changes all the fret positioning.

Aw, thanks, Dale. You're very gracious. Of course, you know the whole story behind that song that night. Suffice it to say, I'd been so eager for us to finally get to that song, then Ty changed the key at the last second and, for some reason, that sudden key change just totally disarmed me. I went from being so eager to being more nervous than a sheriff up for re-election! LOL

LOL I just noticed that about the 2:41 thing. That's funny ... especially since my recording was from 1991 and Dale's is 2015. Like Dale said, it takes years to plan that stuff. LOL

I'm not sure which websites you looked at that were down but we now just use facebook and reverb nation for our websites. Most folks were using facebook to know where we were anyway.
