You may have seen the recent Sherlock Holmes based movie called...Mr. Holmes... and you may remember the (fictitious) street address. Baker Street, released in 1978, is one of Scottish-born artist Gerry Rafferty's greatest and most enduring hits . The song featured a prominent eight-bar saxophone riff played as a break between verses and is here given a bluesy fuzz steel guitar treatment. The alto sax break in the original is said to have caused a huge rise in the sale of saxophones when the track was first released.
The lead is played on two steel guitar tracks, one with a blues ( West Coast B11 tuning) and the other (Steelocaster A6 tuning) with a clean timbre. Rhythm and the (exceptional) bass guitar backing is by Ian McCutcheon with keyboards by Dave Prickett of the UK.
