That's heartening for a beginner to hear. I started off trying various plastic thumbpicks because they're what most people seem to use, but they wouldn't stand up to the advice to pick hard. There's nothing weird about my thumb, but I got a plain metal Propik and it stays in place and hasn't worn noticeably.

I've been playing mostly with my John Pearse for at least the last 5 years. I don't feel it getting loose , and have the need to change the when playing. But, I did with the blue Herco's. Didn't like them at all, and I tried going back to them several times.

Got the Fred Kelly's Today from M.F. Absolutely outstanding pick. It fit my wide thumb perfectly,
That is the poly's did,But the delrin large were smaller and would not fit. A call to M.F. took care of that and they sent me another package of the large poly's no charge. Gotta love their customer service. Thanks guy's for the recommendation on Fred Kelly thumb picks. Tenn.Lee

Another Fred Kelly player here. I use the speed picks, and switch between the orange and the whites depending on which one's on top of the pile.

I just ordered some Golden Gate "clown puke" thumb picks.
The bluegrass players really brag them up so thought I should give them a try. I hope they fit as they are only available in large. |

John, Have you ever considered the New SADDLE thumb pick. It won't break won't snag on the strings or come off on the back stroke. We call it and the new finger picks the ouch less picks and they work different than any other picks . The magic finger picks have only been on the market 5 mo.

| Another vote for the Pro Pick hybrid. If you are really aggressive the metal is pretty soft and malleable. They will probably move on ya. It is nice to be able to shape them the way you want though and really comfortable. I bought a bunch of the heavy golden gates if you want to try one drop me a PM and I will send ya one or two. They are XL. And heavy and thick. Not great for PSG in IMHO. I got them for resophonic. Just to heavy. |
