Hello my fellow steelers!
Well here I go again. I`m looking back through the years to the time I first recorded this melody. The year was 2008, on You Tube on my Fender 400. It was a tribute to a sacred steel player who set the standards through out the years dating back to the forties. His name was Lorenzo L. Harrison. He was the chief musician in the Jewell Dominion church. It was the church that I was first associated with by my parents. We (the family) were later affiliated with the Keith Dominion Church. Bishop Harrison was basically the reason that there was and is a Sacred Steel movement. If you have the time and resources to want to know more, I urge you to read Bob Stone`s Book, advertised here on our forum. For now enjoy!
(I Hope!)

Great stuff as usual, Ron. Keep 'em coming.

Yes, Lorenzo Harrison was a huge force in Jewell Dominion steel guitar. Don't forget he was from Ocala, Florida and that's where he teamed up with Bishop Jewell.'Very Happy'

Those interested in hearing Harrison can access some recordings through Del Ray Grace's Sacred Strings website and YouTube posts.

Thanks for the plug for my book.

Warmest (and most humid) regards,

Bob

Hey Bob! Very Happy (Stone)
My dear friend, and encourager. Glad to hear from you. Just got in from Del Grace`s Annual BBQ in Toledo, this past weekend. As I said in another place, all was, and is well. I`m planning on being there in August on Friday the 14th., and Sat. 15th.
Wish you could be there. If not, we certainly would understand, knowing you are a busy man. I trust that the book is doing well. Give our best,(Delores and I) also to Ms. J.
Ron
BTW, It was sad about Aubry`s tragic loss, He was with us in Toledo, last year. Got to go Love ya man!
Ron

Your comment prompted me to check YouTube for previous versions. I came up with this one, but not the earlier one to which you referred.
What, of course, it proves, is that you've lost nothing of your talents in the intervening years. I'm sure you'll post another version in ten years time. Winking
Keep 'em coming, Ronnie. Cool

Man O Man! You are not going to believe this, but I looked all over for this presentation, and had completely given up. The problem was I was searching my personal library, and then for some reason, I did a search on the internet, and kept coming up with the wrong version. I said before, there is something fishy going on with my google connection. Never the less we now have two versions. The latter one sounds better to me anyhow Laughing Thanks my brother, and friend, you are something else. If I run into something like this again I`ll just turn to you and say HELP!!! Al I`m lost again!!! Love ya man!

Yeah Bish...right in the pocket! You are the real deal, sir.

I had the honor of playing and recording with the great Candi Staton last year, and she spoke of playing with Lorenzo Harrison when she sang with the Jewell Gospel Trio back in the '50s. She said whenever he switched over to steel, people would lose their minds.
Here's a recording of them...the steel comes in at 3:11...

Hiya! Steve! Very Happy (Cunningham)
Yep! What she told you is correct. In fact, I was there at the Joy Road Church in Detroit, when the Jewell Gospel Trio, (they were more than a trio) when they recorded this song and many others. Bishop Harrison was "King" in those days along with Harvey Jones on rhythm guitar, and Corroneva Burns on Drums. I need not get into all the details, but I do remember. By the way, Candi, has a daughter living in Toledo, who is the spitting image of her, almost like looking in a mirror, at a twin sister. I wish they could have presented a better rendition on you tube, but it is what it is. Thanks for the input Steve, it means a lot.
