Following asking for my email edress, are they asking for my email password to enter? Is that OK--safe?
Or do they mean 'make up a password for this site'? |

Only scammers would ever ask for your personal email password. I just looked at "drop-box", and when you set up your account, they just want an email address and whatever password you want to use with that account. |

If you did not initiate setting up or changing an account, emails that arrive out of the blue that ask for your login details are scams.
In fact, when you do set up a new account with an online service, the company often sends a confirmation email to you, showing you what your chosen user name and password is. Emails asking you for a password are called phishing scams. _________________ "Wiz" Feinberg, Moderator SGF Computers Forum

Hi, Wiz. This was on the way to listening to Django Reinhardt on Dropbox.
Now I would like a file host since fx.io tanked, so I'd be asking. Are they asking me for my email pass or a password for Dropbox?
If for my email password, it would seem it wouldn't be shared, but it's my uncertainty about the question....
As I look longer, I'm beginning to think they want a new password for my box with them, right?
Otherwise, on a music streaming site, if they ask for my email password, I might not want to do no matter how good it looks, right?
Thanks. |

I've seen that screen before. If you actually have a Dropbox account, then you just enter in your user name and password. If you don't have an account, you need to create one.
Dropbox is not really a music streaming site, as far as I know. It's just a place in the "cloud" where you can store files. Then you can access them anywhere in the world (well, maybe not in some countries). I use a few different cloud storage services (none are big enough for all my files I want access to) so I can access files on my iPad, Android phone wherever I may be.
You can share your Dropbox folder with others. Maybe that is why you are thinking that Dropbox is a music streaming site.
If you get this when you click on an icon on your desktop, or elsewhere on your computer for Dropbox, I would think it is safe to assume this screen is safe and not a hacker. If you received something by email, and you clicked it and got this screen, I would stop right there. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Richard, that clears it up perfectly. (Streaming was another thing, a site to access various radio stations.)
So they're asking for me to create a password in that field.
It makes sense now; thank you so much.
He's answered my query, Wiz. |

Cool. How did the gig go? Never mind, I'll ask elsewhere.
It appears to be easy enough to find song file hosting--that is, sharing.
Thank you. |

Richard, I still must not grasp it. Tried to sign up with Dropbox; wrong edress or wrong password, even though it was brand new.
Do you have file sharing? I need one. Later. _________________ Those that say don't know; those that know don't say.--Buddy Emmons |
