I've made my choice - about to pull the trigger on a Stage One! I'll have it in August. Looking for an instructor for some in-person lessons to get started on the right foot. The most primary basics - hold the bar, picking, physical positioning.

I contacted Steve Alcott, but he's been away from the steel for awhile.
I thought of Steve because he's close, in Upper Manhattan.
Steve, in turn, recommends, and I highly suggest, John Widgren.
John is well-experienced in teaching as well as playing.
He's a little farther out, in Connecticut,
greatly worth your while to study with.
I'll send his contact info to
you via the forum massaging.

I didn't know Steve played steel; I know him as a bass player. You learn something new every day!
