I'm looking for a single neck PSG, PDQ. I've gotten a number of recommendations for the Encore and the Justice S10, but there's a months-long waiting list for both and I'm itchin' to start playing ASAP. I'm looking for a
* Single neck guitar
* Delivered within a week or so
* Under $2000ish
* That's too young to drink.
That last requirement is possibly a bit too strict, but it's meant to be insurance--I'd rather spend my time playing my guitar than working on it.
Given these constraints, what would you buy? |

This guitar fits your bill. http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=286480
Where in Texas are you? I thought there was a steel store around DFW.
If you don't mind shipping, call/browse the various pedal steel dealers. I like CALLING them, since you, as a newbie, won't even know what you don't know, and won't even know the questions. I bet these folks should have something that fits your qualifications.
Jim Palenscar, at www.steelguitars.me in California
Billy Cooper in Orange Virginia (don't know the URL)
Scotty's Music in St Louis
Frenchy's in Belen, NM
Steel Guitars Nashville.
All good dealers and should probably have a guitar for you.
Yes, dealers are a BIT pricier, but the guitars have all been gone through. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

I didn't see Lane's post, but I would opt for that GFI he linked to. |

I'm in Austin. It's a great city, but no steel store that I know of. |

Again, Brand new Mullen Discovery. Very professional guitar, and will do and sound as good as a more expensive guitar. Mullen crew is the best. _________________ Mullen G2 SD10 3 & 5 The Eagle

If Mullen can deliver a Discovery in a week or two, there is no question what I would choose. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Jackson Blackjack Customs are great too. There are many great guitars out there, including the Zumsteel Encore and the Mullen Discovery. I play a Jackson Blackjack Custom, and I think the other steels are great too |

Well, I lucked into a newish used Encore. Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone! I've been enjoying reading up on all the different models that have been suggested. |
