6th string will not tune to F#...

I know I've seen this on here before but thoughts and guidance appreciated. My 6th string tunes fine to G#, but when I try to do the knee lever drop to F#, it just will not tune (.020 plain).

I think I've seen suggestions to change the string and look for some other stuff, but I'm about at wits end on this. I can't keep changing strings, getting expensive without results.

I'm assuming that it does not make it down to F#? Possibly not enough travel on the knee lever. I use a .022p on that string and have no problem getting down to F#. Knowing what type of guitar will help. I believe there were some issues with some Sho~Buds.

Earnest, it's moving back to lessen the tension on the string. All other strings/pedals/knees tune fine. Just the G# to F# drop on the 6th is the problem, and it's the only one on that knee.

I will also drop an email into Mike @ Mullen, this doesn't make sense. But again, I'm not a Mullen mechanic.

Yes, and it's a Mullen.

Contacting Mullen is a good move. Mullens should be like working on most modern day all pull guitars. Also check to kmake sure the raise finger isn't starting to engage when you lower the string.

It is the split screw in the changer. That is where the final lower is tuned. Turn that screw and adjust it like you would a nylon tuner.

Should solve the problem.

Yup. Tune the G note of the split with the nylon nut, and the F# with the cap screw.

I think where I'm getting confused was that I have a pedal to lower my G#'s to G. I tried to do it without the split being engaged.

Not a PSG mechanic, and this sure proves it, duh.

Live and learn, I'll get there one day.

Ahh. But if you have the cap screw in there, it will still stop you short. If you don't plan to use the split, you could back that cap screw well out of the way, like down around F.

Lane, that's what I tried to do, and what is not working for some reason. I'm going to go back to the original setup and see if I can get it back together.

I knew I was getting too adventurous for my own good.
