Looking for a copy of Paul Bigsby's "60 modern tunings for 8 string steel guitar"
I'd put in in Wtb but who looks there? |

I have a copy. I would not give it. I could copy it. I suppose since it is not in print it would not
get me to much trouble.

There's nothing really revelatory in there--some of the tunings don't make a lot of sense anyway. There's nothing in there you can't learn with a few minutes of searching through this forum on tunings. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

I have the book also. A lot of tunings but no reference as to who actually used them. |

I certainly agree comments above! I am retired from the Navy. A Steel player playing at the one of the service clubs on Treasure Island,CA gave it to me about 1960.

I was reading Andy's book and he mentioned it. That was the inspiration for searching! Thanks for the clarity everyone!

If you get a chance to buy it, do it. It's a cool piece of steel guitar history.I cherish my copy.
It would have been cool if "players of the day"'s tunings were in there. There was so much experimentation going on in that era.
I owned Maurice Anderson's T-8 Bigsby at one time. I could not make sense of the the copedant that was on the center neck. It had 5 pedals and a lot of lowers, if not all lowers. It baffled me.
When I asked Reece "what tuning and set up did you have on there?" "What changes were you trying to achieve?" He replied with something like, "who know's" "I really did not know what I was going for." |

A much better resource for tunings is Andy Volk's Slide Rules. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

Already stated I got the idea from Andy's book. And don't dig the wtb section. It's all fine. |

First, thanks for the plug, guys.
Second, the entire Bigsby booklet was printed in Steel Guitar World Magazine in the early 1990s. It was, surprisingly, of minimal use, if I recall. But if you really want to be sure you're not missing anything you can ask if anyone has the SGW issue that included it. _________________ Steel Guitar Books! Website: www.volkmediabooks.com |

The Bigsby book is more helpful if you are a Bigsby collector as it helps explain why some guitars are set up the way they are or why the fingers were switched around over the years to get away from an odd tuning. _________________ Chris Lucker
