I have a friend who lives in the Indiana, PA area who is looking for a teacher for Hawaiian steel. Is there anyone you know of within reasonable driving distance that gives lessons? |

If your friend has a computer, John Ely (ex "Asleep at the Wheel player) gives SKype lessons. They are surprisingly effective, and John is an excellent teacher.

I'll second what Hal says. It doesn't get any better than taking lessons from John Ely. He's a terrific and patient teacher who is open to teaching what you want to learn. An added bonus is the fact that you can record Skype lessons (I've found that if I use the side-by-side setting in Skype recording preferences, Quicktime Pro is the best way to view the lessons). And all this can be done at home... |
