Can any of you point me to the link where I can get one of the modern day (radio shack type) screw on type adaptors for a valco lapsteel.
I have just got a sublime Oahu/Supro Valco from forum member Alan Simon but instead of the enclosed old style lead I would like to use a modern lead so hence need the adaptor.
It already sounds factory fresh as it is in the best condition I have come accross so far, just need the longer lead .

The Switchcraft 332 adapter will work just fine with Valco lap steels.

Thanks everyone, I really need to plug in existing cable as they have a little inbuilt device that turns them off when unplugging, thus avoiding the "Cack" sound from the amp when you unplug from the instrument end.
Although the Elderley cable does looking interesting.....
I will pull the trigger next week when the financial lifeboat rights itself!!!

Hello Lee,
Why not just replace the amphenol device with a 1/4" Output Jack & be done with it, for about $8.00.

i bought two of those adapters for two old microphones and the adapters did not fit properly. i'm not saying it won't work for you but it was a waste of my money.

These adapters are always available at www.harmonicaplanet.com
Same website also has REALLY good instrument cables with the same screw-on connector type installed on one end, and a standard male 1/4" on the other. It's demonstrably FAR more durable than any other screw-on cable. in production 16 years, ZERO reported failures. Custom lengths, connector types (such as right angles) and a variety of jacket colors are available.
No need to alter the original configuration and/or diminish the collector value of your prized instrument.
BTW, Amphenol is a brand name, like Ford or Apple, they make hundreds of different types of connectors, and other products too. They no longer make any of the MC-1 type (5/8" screw-on) connectors. Switchcraft is "the last man standing" as a source for these connectors and adapters, the quality is excellent, actually better than the old Amphenol counterparts. _________________ "In my youth I spent some money on fast cars, weed and women... the rest I just wasted" |
