I'd try the chemical polishes first, since they're cheaper (Mother's Aluminum and Mag Wheel Polish, California Custom, et cetera).
Otherwise, I'd probably sand it first (if they're really fine, start with 400, then 1000), then polish it on a wheel.
Or send them to a polishing company. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

I just looked up New Oxford. An affordable shop is about an hour's drive away. Blue Mountain Metal Finishing at Exit 17 on I-78. They're who I use. They did both endplates, pedal bar, pillow blocks and pickup surround on my MSA S-12 for $105 _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
