I have known of Mike for many many years now and recently had the chance to meet him in Nashville. Super great guy! He was kind of enough to send me a copy of his CD "Rock Of Ages" this week. As many of you know, I love pickers like Mike who are pushing the envelope with our musical bicycles. Well, that's Mike. Certainly, he can play anything as he is the mainstay steel man for Hank Jr. and Travis Tritt both.
If you don't already have this CD then PLEASE get it. I even think many of you folks who prefer just classic steel guitar will still appreciate what Mike is doing on this collection of music. These songs area all classics. Thing is you can't always tell exactly what Mike is doing because he plays so many instruments on this album. Yet, he uses no electric guitars whatsoever. Which is a cool idea for something like this. GREAT JOB MIKE!!!!!

And I will third it! Since I came from Southern Rock, it particularly resonates with me Mike is a superb player and a great guy. Kudos to him for putting out this record. It ain't yer average steel geetar CD, and therein lies the beauty.... _________________ Tommy Detamore

To Zane and all ... Thanks for the good words about the music. I am currently working ever so slowly on a new project. It will have a few surprises including a track featuring the master , Lloyd Green. Hope to have it ready in the spring of 2016... |
