Thought you forumites might be interested in this. This isn't the best pic but the lap guitar was custom built inside of a piano with full amplification etc. back in the late 1970's early 1980's by Sacred Steel Legend Lorenzo Harrison.

That's pretty cool!

Although it sure would be a drag to have to schlep that thing around for gigging.

Very cool indeed. Easy access to amp controls, a place for sheet music and notes. I'm sure an extra bar or two could be easily within hands reach.

I don't know much about Sacred Steel. Would he have traveled much with the steel or stayed largely at the same church?

Hello Frank, I remember Lorenzo taking the harp out on one tour of about four or five churches. After that it remained stationary at the headquarter church located in Indianapolis, IN.
