I thought I'd post about my current fry pan guitar I'm building. It is 8 strings, 22.5" scale, Grover open 18:1 gold color tuning machines. The back plate is polished aluminum. I made the pickup using Padauk wood for the flat work pieces. I am using .531" shorter length magnets to give a bit mellower tone, and winding with 42 gauge wire. We decided to go with Padauk for the fret board, so I am waiting for that to come. Otherwise ready to assemble and wire up. Here are a few pictures of this build in process:
I have a few more pictures of this guitar up on my Innovative Guitars Facebook page.

I have this fry pan lap steel guitar finished, except for the fret board, which I will make later this week, when the Padauk wood arrives. For now I put a temporary fret board on it, so I can play it. I made a little slide show using the pictures of the build of this guitar, and the background music is this guitar being played. I have uploaded the slide show to my FaceBook page for Innovative Guitars. If anyone wants to hear it, here is the link.

I finally got around to starting a SoundCloud account. Pretty cool set up. Anyway, I recorded another song, 'Yesterday', using this guitar and uploaded it to SoundCloud, .

I'm waiting for the Padauk wood to come in so I can make the fret board and finish this guitar.

Geeezzzz that is one beautiful piece of work! The pickup sounds great, and the sound interaction between the pickup and the body produces a big envelope of sound nuances, with resonance similar to reverb character. ~~~~~~~ OK, ...how much are these babes gonna cost?

Very Nice Wayne
I love the way the trees reflect on the guitar. It would be nice if you could make it look like that in the metal. I guess I will have to be satisfied with just the Pictures.

Thanks Joe.
I could have a color picture of tree leaves printed on clear printer paper, and lay it over the mirror finish.
