Stuart and I are starting a new venture of which I am not presently at liberty to disclose. This will leave us with little or no time for the forum.
We are leaving here today with a wealth of knowledge we will always treasure.
Being a part of this great forum has been a fantastic learning experience and we are thankful for our improvement in vocabulary, communicating skills and vast amounts of Steel Guitar knowledge we’ve acquired here.
We feel as if being online here with you folks each day has made us more complete and well-rounded sort of a continuing education so to speak.
Believe it or not we’ve learned how to take direction, criticism, and compliments (well, anyway we sort of learned it the hard way).
These were three things we weren’t so great at taking before as you folks well know and I‘m sure a lot of you haven‘t forgotten the fallout from Stuart Legg‘s f(x).
We feel as though we can apply all this wealth of experience to our new endeavor as we move on, of course without the f(x) thing.
We are still going to look in once in a while and donate.

Well, I will. Leaving today--there's not much time to think of a clever goodbye; so, long.

The mysterious venture--I hope you'll tell us about it when you get back. South American head-hunting?
You'll be missed. Hope you will drop us a line from time to time; I've enjoyed bantering with you two guys.

I do really hate saying good-bye, especially the permanent kind at funerals. That being said I wish you both the best of luck in your secret endeavor, whatever it may be (and as long as it's legal).

While we may have not agreed on everything, (that's as it should be, it would be a really boring world otherwise) I did appreciate your postings, humor, and unique viewpoints. I will miss you.

posts like this are always curious.
what is the point?
you're leaving but not really?
you need attention?
you're sad that you won't be participating anymore, unless you do?
c'mon leggs, what's wrong?
you can do whatever you want to do without a proclamation such as this.

Chris, for the most part (IMHO), they were just letting their friends and others know of their future plans and why they may not respond immediately to any communications posted their direction. I think it was a nice gesture on their part.

Me thinks you're the one now reading too much into it.

My 2 cents, YMMV.

What can I say. You got a new venture, Great. Share it with us. We will all hold you up and support you. We are all like brothers here are we not? To not trust us with your new venture is a little bit under the table for me. Why make the post if you can not share it? But as someone said maybe you were just letting us know that you would not be on your computer and would not be on the forum except when it was available. I wish you the best of luck with what ever it is you do. J.R.

Chris, it's not that unusual for people to announce they're leaving. Here's one where two members stated they were leaving:

Bo, Stuart - my bet is we'll be seeing you down the road. Hardly anybody gets away from this place, at least not while they're alive. Once in, it's sorta' like the black-hole/swirling-vortex of steel guitar. But whatever, good luck with your new venture.

Dave, I think you're right on target with your analogy of Stuart and Bo's "tryin'" to leave us holding ye olde bag! ha You reminded me of how many of "us" have found the last steel and amp we'll ever buy and declare said same right here on the Forum...sure we have! This contraption (Steel Guitar not the Forum) has got us where it wants us. We'll welcome them back with open arms/ears when they're ready to come back into the fray...All the best to Bo/Stuart...Carl
