Regarding 8 string sets for the high C6 tuning (ACEGACEG), is there a set out of the box sold for this tuning. If not, is there sting chart that shows the recommended gauges out there. |

8 string sets are available on Ebay in a number of different tunings. Search under lapsteel, or lapsteel strings. |

Of course the required gauge will be different for different scale lengths, so I generally start with this chart and then tweak if necessary:

George Pilburn (Mr. Georgeboards) and Danny Hullihen (Jagwire Strings) sell 8-string C6th sets. _________________ Dennis

You have to be careful with 8 string sets. They come with strings for high G and high E tunings. I use a high G C13 tuning (from top - G E C A G E Bb G) and use individual strings, not a set. High E - E C A G E C G C. _________________ Jack Aldrich

I basically buy the C6 set from the forum, and then add an individual high G string to the order. I think I'm currently using an .012 on a 22-1/2" scale for my high G. |
