The first time I heard this song off of Jimmy Day's Steel and Strings record (thanks bOb and family!) I was blown away. Just a few short weeks later I saw William Litaker's version and the very next week found out about his Steel-In-Technique broadcasts, which happened to begin covering Funny How Time Slips Away. It's one of my favorite instrumental songs for pedal steel, but one that I haven't heard many people cover. Here's Litaker's version...

Larry, I get a lot of mileage out of learning that tune. I can't say I can play it complete, but a lot of the melody line and the licks that run through it I can use in other stuff..aka..bag of tricks. hehe.

William did a great job on this old Nelson tune. Smooth as a steel bar sliding on strings.
