Hi all, I hope this is the right place to ask this. I have a Nashville 400 and I recently have had an issue with my reverb. I can turn my amp on and play and it works fine for about 5 minutes and then the reverb drops out completely and and then a minute or two later the signal goes out and the amp starts to buzz bad. I thought I had a bad reverb tank so I ordered a new Mod tank which sounds amazing for about 5 minutes and then it does the same thing. I assume something in the reverb circuit is heating up and breaking down but I'm not sure. Anyone have any ideas?

I had the same problem last week. After the advice of many on the forum, I took the connector that attaches the reverb unit off at the amp and off the unit itself. Then I took some emery cloth and cleaned the posts that come out of the bottom of the amp. Then I took a welders tip cleaner and cleaned the inside of the female end of the connector. I also took a long stiff needle and closed the female connectors a little. Then I used the emery cloth to clean the male ends on the RCA connector and the tip cleaner again to clean the female sockets. So far it works great. I played it for a good 20 minutes at really high volume (thank God I don't have any neighbors close out here on the ranch).....Good luck!

Thanks Mike, I may have to do that if I can't fix it myself. Kyle

As mentioned, it's probably the molex connector. NV400 problems can often be traced to that.

I use an NV400 as my main grab-n-go amp for the majority of gigs. I have for over 25 years.

I have to add that Peavey's service department is really great. I've sent 2-3 amps to them over the years and they've come back working perfect. The department gets the amp in, does a once-over check, and calls you with a cost figure which is very reasonable. Then they do the work right away and ship it back, all within a short time. No extended repair time with them. I've always been impressed.

Also, Mike Brown of Peavey has always been very good to us steel guitarists. I think it's outstanding that Peavey has always tried to provide a dedicated amp model for steel guitarists over its history, even though we're a limited market.

Kyle...If you disconnect the reverb tank completely from the chassis, does the amp then perform normally? If a problem still exists, you might try cleaning all of the input jacks (including any on the backside of the unit) with 'Deoxit' cleaner/lube. Simplest method that I have found is to spray a generous amount on a 1/4" jack and insert and remove it two or three times, repeat for each jack..Hope that this proves useful.

Thanks David, I unplugged the molex connector and the amp worked fine. So I used tuner cleaner and cleaned the posts coming out of the bottom of the chassis, cleaned the metal connectors inside the plug and took a small glasses screwdriver and bent the round connectors and made them smaller so they would be tight when I plugged it back in. I cleaned all the 1/4 jacks with tuner cleaner also. When I put it back together and turned the amp on it worked great! I've played in now for 4 or 5 hours and no problems at all. thanks to everyone for the advice! Oh, and by the way, that MOD reverb tank that Tommy White talked about is absolutely amazing! It is the best reverb I've ever had on an amp! And it cost $20.00.(before shipping) Thanks again everyone!
