A friend brought his Zum Encore in to have a couple of flags installed on the knee levers. After doing so I plugged it in to my amp, and wow what a sound. And it playes great.
This guitar is not only good for the beginner but will impress the advance(working) steeler. Doug Ernst who also builds the Zum "stage one", has a winner with the Encore.
So if you are tired of lugging that D-10 around, or need a
stable second guitar for the studio or home practice, you
should look into this. As a bonus the price is unbelievable
in todays market. For what it's worth, I highly recommend
this quality product.

That's my Encore in that picture above. Jim Flynn added a couple of flags to RKR and LKL. He designed them to fold in tight so that the guitar still fits in the case just fine.
Here are a few pictures of all of that.
Thanks, Jim and Doug. I'm enjoying this guitar.

Indeed. We've moved beyond "student guitars" (thank goodness), and now there are "economy guitars" that do everything you need them to and don't cost a lot. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

The Stage One, the copedant of which can't be changed by most of us, also sounds quite good and has outstanding mechanics. Amazing guitars for the price. stevet |

I've had my ZumSteel Encore, for around 2 months now...& I just love it!!
It's a professional guitar in everyway, at a REALLY GREAT PRICE!!
I had Doug install a Bill Lawrence XR-16 Pickup. Really nice!
And it's nice & light.....but doesn't move around while you play!! Stays very solid on the floor!! I'm definitely a happy owner!! _________________ David "DJ" Rupert

I don't own an Encore, but I believe it's the right guitar at the right price point for most players to afford. A real winner in my book. I hear it's a 12 on a 10 scale in the playability department. _________________ D.S. Rigsby |

Nice guitar Bud. I have owned a Zum Encore for about a year now and love it. I also have two close friends that own them and feel the same away. I was going to have another one built until my wife won the Justice ProLite SD 10 at the Dallas Steel Jamboree this year, so I think I'll hold off now:-).
Jim that's an ingenious design you have there so that it still folds up in the case. I may have to let you work on mine sometime. Don. _________________ GFI D10-8/6 Black/Red

I am still in love with my 4x5 with Doug's humbucker PU. I have had it 16 months and have played my Zum D10 once in all those months. _________________ 2006 Zum D10 8x8,1969 ZB Custom D10,
