Looking for my old 8X5 black Emmons. Sold it to Lloyd Brown who sold it to a picker in Baltimore. Lloyd says the new owner comes here.
Any help appreciated. _________________ I need an Emmons! |

Can you give us a time frame for the purchase? Last year? Ten, or twenty years ago? |

I knew of a Lloyd Brown in this area. (Balt./Wash.)He may have sold that steel to someone in this area. I have one like that now, after it has changed hands a few times. Do you know the serial number? Tommy..... |

Thanks Tommy. The serial number is 2155 D.
Lloyd lived in California and moved to Arkansas. He probably sold the guitar some years ago (five???). _________________ I need an Emmons! |

Tom: The one I have like that, is 1534D... I can trace it back to the previous 3 owners. And now I noticed it has 6 knee levers. I never play it because it has the Emmons set up, and I play the Day set up. I'm pretty sure it started it's life right here in this area. I have no idea what ever happened to Lloyd Brown. Bill: I think we are talking about a different Lloyd Brown. This was a young fellow who lived in the Balt./WAsh. area. I only met him one time, and that was years ago. Thanks, Tommy..... |

That guitar. I bought it in 1977 from a Reno guy who played in a Christian band. He had removed all of the E9th innards and the pedals and played it as a straight steel.
I came back from a trip to Mexico a month later, had a gig the next day and proceeded to put the axe together the best I could with a case of Montezuma's revenge as my co-pilot.
Somehow it all worked and it was a terrific sounding guitar. Years later I was in Denver visiting my sister. there was an Emmons guru there who redid the stuff I could not understand and it played much better afterwards.
That was a good guitar and a great friend. Between it and the songs of Merle Haggard, George Jones, Burrito Bro's etc, I made a decent living... -L- _________________ I need an Emmons! |

Hi Jim,
I recently acquired your old guitar in a trade arrangement with Abe for one of my Emmons guitars. I just finished restoring it for a customer, Jim Hinds (who is also a Forumite) in Southern California. In fact, I'm shipping it out to him this afternoon.
Here a few preliminary photos I took for Jim, before the new alloy legs showed up yesterday from Glen Porter. It now has full length pedal rods, too. I thought maybe you'd like to see what it now looks like...
Here is a photo I took of the serial number before I restored the guitar.
