Hi guys
I really want to know more about the history of the Emmons Push Pull 12 strings. I am getting two of them now, and a friend of mine got two more so we are gonna compare and listen. I think the four of them should be something like 1973, 1976, 1980 and maybe 1981/'82. Not too sure. Serials #104, #131, #185 and #193.
One of them is bolton wood neck (the latest one). The rest I think is aluminum neck, but unsure about the changer. Cuttail?
Would love to hear some history here!
I have heard said that they made about 10 each year from 1973. First serial number was #101. And they made not much over 100 guitars in the years following before the LeGrande took over and the 12 string was discontinued. Please correct me if I'm wrong. |

They were made before 1973.
There are also two string spacing versions. Spacing the same as the 10 strings and some with a closer spacing.
In late 1971, Hank Corwin, who was working with Jim Ed Brown at the time, special ordered a D-10 PP but with the closer "12 string spacing". It was delivered around the 1st of June 1972. Hank had small hands and he thought the closer spacing would help him. |

Thank you so much for the info! Cool. Yeah, the two that are coming my way now has different string spacing. But does it seem right that #101 was the first one made? Then maybe #104 is earlier than 1973.
The two coming are #193 bolton/wood neck wide string spacing and #104 cuttail aluminum neck narrow spacing. Looking forward to comparing the sound from them. |

Emmons serial numbers are inconsistent.
For example, I had a 71 D-10 PP, S/N 1464D. However, the list of Emmons serial numbers and years shows this as being a 1970. I ordered it in March of 1971 and it was delivered in April 1971. |

Don't know if it helps, but I have a p/p SD-12 #6584. I'm guessing it was made in the early to mid 1980's. |

I’ve got 2 D12 push/pulls. Pretty sure both are from the earlier to mid 1970’s. I’ll dig them out and upload a pic and serial numbers when I have the time. |

I did a lot of research on these, the S-12s have some differences from the SD 12 guitars. |
