Hello My Friends, and Fellow Steelers!
Once again I find myself in that kind of mood that sometimes comes when you least expect it. So though at one time it was seen on you tube. I thought I would put it on in a different way. It even sounds better when you don't see me play it Laughing Never the less here it is once more enjoy!
Ron
By the way give it about twenty seconds to kick in. Why? I don't know it Just takes that long to start but when it does O Boy!

This may be my favorite of the tunes you've posted.
Funny, I was just telling someone about you and sacred steel today. _________________ Those that say don't know; those that know don't say.--Buddy Emmons |

Hey Charlie! (McDonald)
As I often say, because it is from the heart, "Thank You So Much" for your encouragement, and your support, because it means so much to me. I hope that whosoever you shared me with would be inspired, and tell somebody else along the way. You are highly appreciated my friend. The best to you and yours,

I still hear your tracks as movie sound tracks. Investigate and pursue that angle. Maybe there's a source or route that allows producers to hear the recordings? This song would be good for a romantic background music scene.

Hi Dennis! (Detweiler)
If that were only true, I would definitely half to cut you in on the profits made, for being so right about this in a prophetic way. Who knows what the future may bring. I certainly would not refuse it! Anyway, I thank you again for your support, and encouragement, because it does mean a lot to me. Be blessed, and the best to your loved ones.

Very nice (as usual), Ronnie. I love your phrasing. That tune made me think of a Ry Cooder song "I Think It's Gonna Work Out Fine" that he had on his "Bop 'til You Drop" album. Have you ever played that one?
Keep 'em coming! |

Hi Paul (Honeycutt)
Thanks so much for your encouragement, as I often say It means a lot to me. I guess when I learn what phrasing means, maybe I will appreciate it more. I`m just kidding, and I appreciate the phrase of music that I play, because it marks the touch that I`ve been blessed to develop. I`ve never heard of that particular album, but I do know the talent that Ry Cooder has, and I will be on the lookout for it. Thanks again, and stay on the watch, because I`ll get it right sooner or later. (Big grin)Warmest of greetings to your loved ones.

Bishop, I particularly liked this one. I hear a lot of your stuff as you post here, but this one has especially great flow and tone. Love your single note approach, as I am particularly weak in that area. ...

Hey Stan! (Paxton)
Glad to hear that you like this one. Every now and then, I almost, get one, or two of them, almost right! I just keep trying. As much as I would have liked to, have had a better chance, to learn the proper formal way, of playing this instrument, when I started out. But, as it worked out, this single note style, was the only way, that a kid my age, (9 years old) at that time, could have learned to play any stringed instrument. But still, I would like to think, that I didn't turn out tooo bad! Thanks for your encouragement, it is very much appreciated. Be blessed, my friend, and warmest greetings to your loved ones,

Yes, but if that's all we wanted to do we could just put on a CD of yours. Seeing you play it is more personal, and we get to watch your hands move, which tells us a lot about your unique playing style, which many of us would like to emulate but don't have your gift for it. |

As has been stated here by various members, this has all the aspects of a spiritual sung with feeling by one person in Ry Cooderesque style just waiting to find its way into a film.
Superb performance, Bishop. How was the Dobro tuned? |

Alan, I have one of these "Industrial" steels (This one is an electrified Dobro) back in the USA and to me its sound is what I hear on Bishop's cut. He is most likely using a lap steel but this is what I hear.
Anyone have an idea how the guitar is tuned?

Hi Steve! (Takacs)
Sorry I`m little late in responding, but sometimes my clerical duties slow me down a great deal. But I do want to clear up some of the questions that rise up from time to time. First of all, thank you, for your encouragement, as I often say, it means a great deal to me. Second, my tuning is just a plain ole "E" natural, beginning with my 1st. string "e" 2nd."b", 3rd."g#",4th."e",5th."b",6th."e",7th."b",8th."e",9th."b",10th."e". The strings are from the thin "e" to the bass strings as the bottom "e". As a matter of fact, the Dobro tuning is just about the same except it has the six string arrangement from the high "e" down to the bass "e" as its tuning. So I can understand where the comparison comes in. Thanks for your interest in my little simple style of steel playing.
One other thing, you should know, I am a bi-lateral above the knee amputee, and so, I took a Carter (non-expensive)Pedal Steel, and adapted it to my needs, by developing it, into a "hybrid console", so that's why the sound has those tones that you hear. Along with some help from a "higher plane", you hear that "violin/horn gift" that comes forth.(smile)
Be blessed my friend, and the best to your loved ones.

Steve, I recommend that you go onto YouTube, assuming that it's accessible where you are in Beijing, and watch some of Ronnie's videos, where you can see his playing style and his cheery face. |

Ronnie, thanks for the information on using your use of the E tuning and Carter guitar console to craft those touching lines I've heard in your efforts. I had to laugh when I heard this from you:
Thanks for your interest in my little simple style of steel playing.
There may be a number of single lines hanging out in your work, but they are anything but simple. I just chanced upon your renditions and will go mining for more.
Alan, I certainly wish I could get Youtube here in Beijing but it is blocked. I will, however, look for Ronnie's videos when I am out of the country this summer. Thanks for the tip. stevet

It's amazing how everyone hears the voice differently.
Here's a video the Bishop posted, actually playing.
