I asked Mike Johnson which he prefers, and it was nickel. I'm going to have to try some. |

It looks likes no one so far would give you a nickel for stainless steel strings. |

I guess I'm the odd man out here. I've used nothing but the stainless, and really like them. However, I've never tried the nickel.. Maybe I should!!! _________________ Mullen G2 SD10 3 & 5 The Eagle

....nickel for me as well...just a personal preference...no reflection on anyone else at all.
My 2 cents, YMMV. |

I actually used stainless for years. The Live Steel Strings stainless string are so fresh, they are almost too bright. It takes a while for them to settle in. But, in the band I am in now, I am right next to the bass player and my steel tone kind of gets lost in the mixture of bass and steel. I may try stainless to see if I can cut through better. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . richard, i've had that problem before too and in a couple bands i finally just had to move to the other side of the stage to get away from the bass. |

That's not an option Chris. Lead guitar/keyboard player uses up the other side of the stage. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . I used the Nickel for years but I like the brightness of stainless which I use most of the time now.RS _________________ Franklin D10 Stereo - 8 and 6 - Black Box-Zum Encore 4 and 5 Nashville 400,Session 400, DD3 for delay ,also Benado Effects pedal.

I went from Live Steel Nickel strings to Jagwire Stainless.
On my JCH the Jagwires sound much nicer. Even the unwound strings. _________________ ----------------------------------

There is less drag on the bar with nickel strings. |
