Not sure if this is the right section, but here goes nothing!
I'm looking for a backing track for "Secret Love", preferably Doris Day style, with string washes etc.
The Spotify tracks are all in B, and I'm really looking for something in the range D to F if possible, as the chord inversions I have, and the general sound of the string lengths "in play", seem to beg for it to be played in the higher key - at present I'm playing it in E.
If possible, an MP3 file, pretty please? _________________ Williams 700 series keyless U12,

I can't help with a backing track, but somebody told me that Secret Love is in Eb, so that's where I've learned it. Really a great tune, have you heard Freddy Fender's version?

Well Gary, it's hard to know what to say to that. If it *was* in Eb I'd be happy, and equally, if it *was* in Eb, there'd be Spotify backing tracks aplenty in Eb. There aren't (isn't?).
Doris Day appears to have recorded the definitive version, there don't seem to be many/any other versions out there. She sings it in B. That's too low (or too high, take your pick), hence this post. No, I've never heard Freddy Fender's version.

I'm not familiar with Spotify but I just looked in the first fake book that was handy and Secret Love "is" in Eb. |

I just looked in iReal Pro, and it has a backing track for Secret Love (in Eb, though you can transpose it anywhere you like)...

Sorry Dennis, these are no good. The Doris Day one is in B, altho' you can transpose it (but only up or down two half steps), the George Michael version grates, and the Bee Gees song is a completely different song, sharing the same title.

Will, shoot me an email and I'll send you a track. It's a midi but I can edit it and convert it to mp3 for you in whatever key you want.
It's the Doris Day version.

Will, Et Al,
Here is my all time favorite version of Doris Day's "Secret Love" preformed by SG Hall of Fame Inductee and Grand Master Steelguitarist Bobbe Seymour. May he Rest in Peace.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLpHGQzxxc4
IMHO, Bobbe's version of this song is incomparable for two reasons.
A. His colossal musical talent, style, full chord use and along with his Bar & picking technique, it is simply sublime. Nothing short of Genius. Just look at the faces of his side men as they gazed in awe.
B. If anyone ever wondered what all the fuss is about over the Emmons P/P Sparkle, tone and sustain, this rendition is the perfect case for it's iconic fame and reputation. This was a live performance. If you can plug it into your Home Theater system, be prepared to be knocked out by this P/P sound. Additionally, I believe Bobbe borrowed this P/P and set it up from someone in Ireland. I spoke with Bobbe about it, and of all the hundreds of you tube's he made, he was most proud of this one. While he preformed it on the E9 neck, you might be able to discern what Key Bobbe used. Enjoy.....TX
Rgds,
Ron |

Not to try to hijack your post here, as it seems you have found what you are looking for, but here is a guitar version that I learned probably 30 years ago by the great Hank Garland...to me, one of the prettiest arrangements for chord melody guitar ever recorded:

A beautiful song, inspired me to work on it on steel some more...I got a nice tab of it from Erv Niehaus to get me going. _________________ Zum Encore, Remington D8 non pedal, Hallmark Mosrite clone, Gretsch 6120 DSW, Gretsch G5210T-P90 Electromatic Jet Two 90,1976 Ibanez L5, Eastman archtop, Taylor Dreadnaught, Telonics pedal, Squire Tele, Squire Strat, Fender Tonemaster, Gold Tone 5 string banjo, Little Wonder tenor banjo, 3 Roland cubes 30s and 80, Carvin combo bass amp |
