Just got right hand alpha today. I know I have a lifetime of bad habits to break, I seem to be able to make the right position, first exercise seemed to go fine, the second one is killing me, especially the thumb portion....
Anyone else do this after a lot of bad habits?
How long should I work at it every day?
BTW. I Really like Jeff Newman's teaching style. |

As long as you can take it. Take a break when you get frustrated though. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . I experienced a big improvement in a short time. Take note where he says "don't worry - it'll suddenly come good" or words to that effect. It was true. How long at a time? Like anything else, until no more soaks in.

I'd advise you to get some live lessons to supplement Jeff's courses. While his teachings are very good, there is no "one way" to do everything, so keep an open mind whenever someone says to "do it this way". It can be easy to confuse bad habits with variations in technique, and many pros did things Jeff wouldn't have liked. But what counts is the end result, and what's comfortable and feels good to you! Don't go throwing the baby out with the bath water. |
