Topic: What change for pedal #5 |

I have an S12 5+5 with standard Franklin on 0 pedal,Emmons ABC, Es on lk, all pretty standard. Need suggestions for 5th pedal, I play Gospel/contemporary at my Church.

I'd take the half-stop off of the 2nd string lower to get a firm D, and then lower strings 2, 9 and 12 to C# on that pedal. But that's just me.

I'd raise the 5th and 6th strings a whole tone each (B to C#, G# to A#)... It's a standard change for the Uni tuning and very useful both when your E's are untouched or when they're lowered to D#.. It permits you to play instrumentals such as "Raisin' the Dickens", etc)... I have it on my guitar on pedal 4 and use it all the time... I don't use the standard C pedal as I have the E to F# change on my pedal 8 (used with the right foot) for Mooney things..............JH in Va.

I'd put Franklin pedal on P5, and raise 1&2 on 0 (if you do that with the knee that lowers 6,I'd just raise 1 to G there, along with the 6 lower).

| I have a 5+4 MSA D10 and I lower the B strings to Bb on pedal 5. Bizarre, but functional and working nonetheless. Lol! It'll give you a C6th feel when getting the split in combination with the A pedal using both feet. J |

After 20 years, my "P0" might be getting some traction. Maybe I should call it the Bovine pedal. |

Bovine pedal, Hmmmmmm Just put it on p0, think I may like it. Not a lot of trouble to change back if it doesn't work for me.

Jay, I had an S12 MSA with the B lower on p0, worked real well for me, one of those "I let it get away guitars".

Check out Cowboy Eddie Long's U12 copedent on the BMI site. The Bovine pedal is featured quite prominently at P0.

There's nothing unusual about it, Jay. Most people lower their 2nd and 9th strings to C# on a knee lever. I do it on pedal 0.
As for the 12th string lower, I no longer have a 12 string. When I did, I found the 12th string lower to be very useful for a C6th-ish "boo-wah" effect, and also as the root tone when the F lever was engaged.
I agree with those who would move the Franklin changes to the inside position. I'd put these C# changes in the pedal 0 position for easy use with the F lever.

On my 12 string guitar I tune my 2nd and 9th strings to C#... My LKR raises them both to D and my LKL raises the 2nd string to D# and lowers the 10th string B to Bb (A#).....JH in Va.

| Any chance one of you guys with the A# (Bovine) change can post some examples of how you use it? If it's standard on the Universal, I assume it's the C6 7th pedal change, but I'm pretty ignorant of the C6 changes and how they're used. Do you use it the same way as it's used on the C6, or something different altogether? - thanks a bunch. |
