I know this has been discussed at some point, but I am wondering if anyone has it and is ok with it???. I would like to try it again, to see if I can make it work.. I think I tried it in the past and gave up, as it was too hard to feel, very unlike the feel on a "sideways"lever.. Just wondering if its on anyone's guitar.. I am pretty adaptable to a mushy feel, like many steel players that have played old junkers for decades...bob

Bob, Most of my guitars have had it and I use it often enough to justify it.

I've never tried it, so it's just conjecture, but a half-stop on a vertical sounds awkward.

I use my vertical to raise my F#'s to G. I thought I would try the first string F# to G and G# with a half stop. Could never feel the half stop well enough to make it usable. I tried a half stop on a pedal one time, and that didn't work for me either. If you have to hit the half stop in a quick move, you need a pretty stout half stop and knees/feet sensitive enough to feel it. Only my knees going left and right are usable enough for me.

I prefer a solid simple Co-ped, i'm sure i miss out on some features because of it, but i don't like multidrops on any knee, not even half stops, it sounds a bit much Bob, there's plenty of other toys to play with on the neck. Very Happy

OK John, just so I'm clear.. You do the feel stop on the Bb ?? You go from B to Bb[feel stop}, and then down to A.. is this correct??. . bob

Ricky,(please say a prayer for him) customized my '74 ShoBud S-10, from 3&1 to 3&6. There is a nice solid half stop on the vertical. I seldom drop it to A, but do drop to Bb often.

I have the vertical to Bb on mine and I don't think I could feel a half stop. It's awkward enough just to get used to the vertical. It would have to be a real noticeable difference in tension to be useful. Just my opinion. But it would be cool if you can make it work.

No, I didn't mean to imply that,
I just drop Bs to Bb and that's all I would do with a vertical,
a half-stop on a vert would be too hard (I think)

Not if it's done right! The one Ricky did for me is not hard to use at all!

Adding tension is NOT an issue.. It can be done quite easily using multi hole bellcranks and juggling which holes in the lowering fingers you insert the pull rod.. Failing that, I can always install a spring loaded feel stop. They are much more precise, and are quite adjustable..

I think I will do what I always do. Ignore all the good advice I got here, and just see if it works for me . I recall trying it and NOT liking the outcome, but what the hell... Maybe this time it will work.. I don't lower string 10, and that might help... bob ===
