Working with strings 6 down to 10 and Thumb and Middle finger only in this pattern T.M.T.M.T.M..............
If i start on string 10 with my thumb then i end up on string 6 with my thumb, ok that's all good but;
Sometimes when i'm floating, my (middle finger) will pick string 6 and then i am out of sequence on the way down to string 10, and end on string 10 with my MIDDLE finger!!
Is this ok? Do you masters run into this?? _________________ A.K.A Chappy. |

Why not?
When I do my Pete Anderson baritone guitar Little Ways ride, I'm pretty sure I hit 10 with middle. More than once _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

My brain gets a bit (tripped up) if i loose syncronization Lane, it seems harder starting with the middle finger and coming backwards down the scale, but when floating around it cant really be helped, because i can't garantee with 10 strings that i'll land on string 6 with a thumb in moments of madness, it gets a bit sloppy on the lower strings and i can't settle for that. What do you do?
Have you tried starting on string 10 with a middle finger? it feels awfull. _________________ A.K.A Chappy. |

Larry, I'll try to pay attention next time. But P, M or I, I leave it unthought of.
Like I've mentioned before, I think the notes, and they come out the speaker. If you have a decent sized screen, maybe you can see my hand, where I spend 8 bars on 8, 9 & 10

Thank you lane, here's my style i'm trying to put over.
10T 9M 8T 7M 6T going up
6M 7T 8M 9T 10M going down
see my fingering crossover question? It's backwards fingering that gets a bit iffy when floating around 10 strings and i have a stumble from string 6 backwards unless i start with the thumb on 6 everytime (i cant gaurantee a thumb start everytime on string 6)...Is that normal?? _________________ A.K.A Chappy. |

That looks fine. I'd try disconnecting the brain.
Put on a record that fits the link, and just play along with it at speed. If it doesn't come reflexively, then make a drill out of it and work on it. There shouldn't BE anything special about the RIGHT hand at the lower strings. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

It's not the speaker, it's the self-playing guitar.
It was unbelievably hard training it, though. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
