Looking through some copies of Tom Bradwhaw's Steel Guitarist Magazine, I found this Word Search puzzle in Issue 5, published in May of 1980. It was designed and sent in to the magazine by David Grisdale of Norristown, PA. The first half of my life I lived within a few miles of Norristown and went to high school there, but I don't recall ever meeting David. Here's his puzzle. . .

Anyone here know David? Had to take some serious time to develop. Thank you David

I do not ever remember seeing this but did see several names. I will have to print this off and work on it.

Charlie,
Yes, Smith is there. Thought I'd wait a day or so to let the forum members scratch their heads as I'm doing.

Craig Baker, If the name "King" is there it is not because of me.

Well, I got curious and pulled out my Ralph Mooney issue and "cheated" by going to the answers page.

Sorry Paul, there is no "King" listing there.

I will also admit there are some names (about 10 of them) that I am not familiar with, my shortcoming I'm sure. Then again in my old age, I may have just forgotten that I did. Oh well....

DG, I too saw several names unknown to me. As I mentioned in my opening post, I am curious about David Grisdale. It must have taken quite a while to build this word search. It sure takes a while to solve it.

OK, spoiler alert, this is the list of names that should be in the puzzle, don't look if you're trying to figure it out on your own.

...then look at the "H" before "Franklin" and you find "Hughey" going backwards, pretty good on that one...

I like this puzzle...

I found 'Call'. For John David Call in the third row. It's not on the list. I can't find Lucier, but can find Luciel. Misprint??? I can't find Hicke, but can find Hicks, who isn't on the list. Other than that, i found them all. Some I have never heard of.

Don't see David Burns name on the list. Anybody else remember David? He toured with Johnny Rodriguez in the early days. Jammed with him once in Philly, good player, but haven't heard anything of him in years. David had red hair and Johnny always called him "Rojo".

I agree, this puzzle is a great work, just wish I could learn more about its creator, David Grisdale.
