Austin,TX Grad Film Student Looking for Score Help

Hi Steel Guitar community,

I've been a pedal steel dreamer/dabbler for a while, but now I'm a Graduate Student in Austin,TX getting my MFA in Film Production and am currently editing my PreThesis film. I am hoping to find a steel player to help with the score to my Film.

The film is a short set in mid century rural Texas about a surveyor who gets shot without warning and is taken to civilization by an old woman in a beat up pickup truck. Stylistically, it has a sort of Western genre feeling to it.

I love the tonality and character of the steel guitar and I would like to experiment a bit with what it could do to create ambiances and melodies in a film score. But I'm not skilled enough musically to do it myself. I'm working with a composer who would be able to provide guidance/direction/sheet music. I also am working with a student sound editor who can help with the recording session if necissary.

The timing would probably be around the middle of April. As this is a student film, this would be a volunteer project but I understand that people's time is valuable and often scarce.

I think this could be a really exciting project to showcase the steel guitar in a new type of venue. Let me know if you are interested in helping with my project!
