Hey Forumites
Is any one still making the wood - 3 door style wood rack cases to mount preamps and components in.?
Fred Justice is no longer making them so I just wanted to ask the question before going another route. I was looking for a 5 or 6 space unit.

If you Google "wooden audio rack 19 inch", you'll find LOADSA choices.

There's lots of wooden rack cases but only two people, that I know of, have built the three door models. Cush Case was the first but he has been out of business for about 10 years. I haven't seen the ones that Justice built.
I built one myself years ago, not that hard to modify an existing case and add the side door. |

I have received a couple of inquiries asking what a 3 door case is. I will post pictures of my current 4 space as an example. Fred made some really great cases.
I'm looking to stay with this style case verses the molded style as I am putting a special project together.

If you decide to build one (which is fairly easy) you get hardware here (http://www.reliablehardware.com/) and here (http://www.parts-express.com/cat/case-cabinet-hardware/201).

Ray, try the guys at Pearson Case.
They hand build all their cases to your specs. And they are good at what they do. I had them make me one when I was still using a rack setup. The thing about the ones that were for sale in the past. Like the ones in the photos here. Notice how they have the suitcase latch's, and the surface mount handles? All Pearson Case's have the recessed pro handles, and butterfly closures. And all hardware on a Pearson Case, has their name stamped on it. Both...top & bottom were removable on mine. Look at the case I gave away here on the forum awhile back. See how it's built like a tank? They will drill holes in them to, if that's your thing to do. A Pearson case, is simply the very best money can getcha. Here's the one I gave away here on the forum.

Thanks for the information guys.
The case you had made George sure was built to be "heavy duty".
That looks like a possible avenue.
I would consider building one myself but my work keeps me way to busy and it definitely would not be a "pro" job.

| I had Bob Dell build me a 5 -space years back when he was building cases. He did some fine work! Not sure he's still building them however but would be worthwhile to look into. |
