I hope this doesn't bore anybody as I have made comments each year as it means alot to me. Last monday March 9th I was 16 years old on my second heart. In the very skilled hands of my Surgeon Prof Sir Magdi Yacoub and his team, I have enabled to see an extra 16 years I definitely would not have seen. Thank GOD for donors and skilled surgeons and a caring hospital....I just got in today from my test, and all's well

Doesn't sound boring at all, but it looks like more scars.
Sort of miraculous, medical procedures. Good show. _________________ Those that say don't know; those that know don't say.--Buddy Emmons |

Stories like this make me glad that I have organ donor checked on my drivers license. Someone gave my dad several years of sight that he would not have had otherwise. I urge everyone to be an organ donor. You never know who it might help. I hope that I do not offend anyone by posting this. If so than I apologize. I wish you the very best Micky. It is amazing what the doctors can do these days. Thank you guys....Jim Cohen...when I was there today, I met a 32 year old girl....she'd been done 19 years ago...She had Cardiomyopathy...I had Coronary artery desease. She had the same Surgeon. Those guys are Saints. Most transplants happen at night because of driving in the dark etc etc. My surgeon had already been working 14 hours, then he got a call that I had a donor...that put another 7 hours to do mine. That's a long time to do intricate work. As I said, they are Saints. God bless them!!!

Thank you all....it's not all plain sailing, there are many nasty side effects with the anti-rejuction pills, but you just go with the flow so to say....with positivity

I have never met you but after seeing those photos I say you are a blessed man. I am so glad you received the help you needed and received the transplant. And I might add playing steel guitar even makes it better. Best wishes for a long healthy life. |

Micky, Great thread!
All the best to you and to Tony Glassman and others as well. The Lord gives us an amazing body and then provides brilliant physicians to do whatever it takes to keep it going.
How blessed is that?
Congratulations.

Thanks Tony and Roy and aunty Syl ..I just try to keep on keeping on. Being 16 years out with this second hand used heart is a lottery, I have met many friends over the years from that hospital. Some have had more years, some very much less, it's all down to who gets the short straw. At the end of the day, we all have to go "sometime" it's just good that I was blessed to have another 16 years so far, thanks to a generous family who decided to donate their love ones parts when he was classed as brain dead after his tragic road accident
