......cover the string parts, the piano parts, the horn parts, the fiddle parts, the banjo parts, the accordion parts, the harmonica parts, etc. and I'll cover the guitar part," said the guitar player in the band. Neutral

It's better than, "we'll let the steel guitar player go. I'll save $35.00"

Ya know,,, when I retired a dozen years ago, I got calls for 3 weeks from bands wanting me to join. The calls only stopped when the word spread that I had, indeed, retired. If I were to advertise today for a gig, I'd probably get one call a month. If that!

Word gets out. Turn down a couple gigs and you're in someone's circular file.

Don't ask me how I know. Sad

There once was a steel player whom some people said overplayed, so he played less. Then some others (who didn't like steel anyway) said he was still playing too much...so he played even less. This went on for quite a while. And then one day, the club owner told the bandleader that money was tight, and crowds were down, so he'd have to scale back the band. So, the steel player was let go. Later, some people who came in said they heard that the band had made some changes, and they wanted to see what was going on. When the bandleader told them "Yeah, I had get rid of our steeler", the people remarked that he had probably made the right decision, because they had noticed the steeler really wasn't doing that much, anyway!

He was probably replaced by two more lead players and a rhythm player. That's what they do here! Oh Well

What is this, some kind of fairy tale? (It's very Grimm)

I agree with you Henry. I tore my steel down a few weeks ago and brought it to the house because I was sick of the smoke and the drunks. I am seeing now that I was replaced by another lead guitar. They already had one and now they have two. Imagine that! I need to make it down to your place some weekend and set in with you guys.
