The secret to Moon is almost treating the steel like a face-up Tele. You can play most of his stuff on a regular E9th guitar, as you can see. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

One of the secrets is playing with two feet to get each pull to activate crisply. Mashing on the pedals with two feet produces a sharper note transition that trying to rock your ankle between two pedals or moving your entire foot from one pedal to another. |

In the words of a steel guitar player in Canada who knew Moon better than most the secret to Moons'playing is dancing on the pedals and yes Mr Cutshaw playing with 2 feet. _________________ S12 MSA Classic Nashville 400 with fox mods amp 1 volume pedal 1 Lil Izzy and 3 cords |

I think many people try to read too much into Moon's playing, but most of his stuff was dirt-simple. Probably 98% of everything he ever did was A,B, & C, and an E lower. It's more of a mindset and style thing than it is having same tuning or using both feet. |
