| In my case, using the stereo steel. I set the speakers behind me, separated by the length of the steel. If I use my Nashville 400 or 1000, it goes behind me, slightly off to my right shoulder. The SS speakers give me complete sound to both ears. The Nashvilles are behind me, to the right, so I can turn and adjust them easier if I need to. I don't like to place any amp directly behind me because I block the sound coming from it. I used to place an amp on a chair behind me, but, soon found out that my ears were suffering from my volume and that's not good. It's already too late of my left ear. I've got minor loss and ringing in it. |

I keep my amp beside me
1. I'm able to keep the volume lower
2. I'm able to adjust settings without getting up
3. I get to hear all my clams 1st, giving me enough reflex time to repeat so she'll(wife) think I meant to play that!

In front of me, leaned back at an angle. I'm using a Fender Deluxe, sure wish it had tilt-back legs like the ones on the Twin-Reverb I had years ago.
On a stage where my amp must be behind me, I like it so set it off towards one side, and either leaned back or set on top of something.
Does anyone make legs that you can add to an amplifier? |

In front facing be because it lets me hear every little glitch that I make and hopefully, improves my playing. Just makes sense to me. Sit your amp in another room with the door closed and you can't tell whether you are playing good or bad, LOL.

On the porch so I can aim it at my neighbors house, to pay them back for all their noise. 
When I am at home just practicing, it doesn't matter where I place it. If I have my guitar in front of my computer, like when using Amazing Slowdowner, it's on the floor to my right. If I'm in the living room, I just turn the amp to face the living room.
