Who uses a Fender Bassman for pedal steel, and which channel do you plug into?
I tried the bass channel on my Bassman 70 a time or two when I first bought it, and pretty much gave up on it, thinking it was no good for pedal steel. But tried it again today when I was having trouble dialing out the treble on the normal channel. After a few tweaks I found some great tone. Got some kind of special sauce on that channel, don't know if it's the tubes or the EQ voicing, but it sounds great! |

Jump them channels! Run a patch cable from one input on the bass channel to an input on the normal. Then season to tase between the two. Someone else chime in- I know this can be done on the 50w blackface & silverface Bassman models, but not all Fender amps will allow running both channels. Possibly has something to do w/ the fact that it has no reverb to gum up the works? Someone please explain this electric sorcery to me. _________________ Excel Superb D10, Sarno Black Box or Freeloader, Goodrich L120, Boss DD5, Baby Bloomer, 1965 Super Reverb chopped to a head, feeding a mystery PA cab w/ a K130.

The BF/SF Bassmen are not jumpable... the channels are out of phase, due to the extra buffer stage in the bass channel. The reverb amps have out of phase channels as well. You're welcome to experiment, it won't blow anything up... but you should notice much less output. They can be modded to put both channels through the buffer... this is a common mod. _________________ New FB Page: Lap Steel Licks And Stuff: https://www.facebook.com/groups/195394851800329 |

How about a y-cable or adapter to plug guitar into both channels? Same problem? |

A Y-cable is the same as a jumper...
QUESTION:
Anybody know about the new Silverface Deluxe that has a Bassman-like channel and a Deluxe channel? The reverb works on both sides...
A friend of mine has one, I'd suggest jumpering to him if they are in phase... _________________ https://www.lostsailorspdx.com

That's right- Got 'em mixed up. I can jump on my BF Dual Showman & SF Bassman 100, but not my 68 SF Bassman. _________________ Excel Superb D10, Sarno Black Box or Freeloader, Goodrich L120, Boss DD5, Baby Bloomer, 1965 Super Reverb chopped to a head, feeding a mystery PA cab w/ a K130.

The bass channel on bassman heads changed a bit depending on the year. I don't think fender even liked it! Never used that channel on any I ever had. Always used the normal. |
