| Does anyone know about the Desert Rose Guitar on ebay? how does it stack up against other entry level guitars? Looks real nice. |

I've known Chuck Back since the 70's. He is a great guy and a great player. I plan to get one of his pro models.
Chuck is just now introducing his entry level guitar. And it is just that. This is a real steel guitar. The Desert Rose is an evolution of the Flynn steel guitar. Chuck purchased the Flynn Guitar company. The Flynn evolved from the old Rus-Ler which was made similar to ZB.
The Desert Rose guitar seems to be in a class of its own, though. Chuck has patented his own changer and takes pride in ALL of his work. He personally builds each guitar, including the entry model. Chuck has a program that will allow credit for the entry level guitar on the pro model. You can email him for the details.

He will build a custom guitar at a good price. He also builds left hand models.

Hey Steven!
I just purchased the one off Ebay for $650 which is what they sell for. I had already made up my mind I was going to buy one anyway because I think its the best buy for an entry-level guitar out there bar-none. It's upgradeable to four pedals and five knee levers. I am an old guitar player  learning steel and That guitar will keep me busy for a long time.

I haven't seen these guitars but I'm wondering about the name. If he hasn't made a deal with Chris Hillman about the name "Desert Rose" he'll probably have to as I hear ol' Hillman ain't too nice a guy...JH

This one is already made up complete with name. Maybe if there is some kind of name change this one might have collector value too as well as being a good guitar.

| That's right! "Desert Roses" have been around a lot longer than that band by the same name. I know for sure they go back over a hundred years (probably a lot longer), because one of the world's most popular china patterns is called "Desert Rose". |

Hillman had a solo record album out called "Desert Rose" before the Desert Rose band came to be. It was almost the same players and sounded a lot like the more familiar stuff. I have an LP copy of it and it's a great album, especially the title cut "Desert Rose"........JH

Steven- Have you looked at the positive feedback on ebay where they say "The item was as expected"? This entry level Desert Rose guitar was more than expected. It is beautiful! and sounds great. It is the nicest entry guitar I've seen.

Hey Howard, just think how i'm going to feel when i get my new Pro Steel Guitar D-10 8/5 the E9th will have 5 floor pedal,Chuck send me some pic of the body with the finish done, All i can say is that you guys will be lickin you chops,Chuck said i will have it next mo,Just let you guys know that I'm building all the cases for Desert Rose Steel Guitar.the more i talk to Chuck the more i wanted one and it will be here soon, Thanks Chuck for building my Steel guitar the way I wanted,Chuck will build it and finish way you like to have it,not way they want,Thanks Gary.

| Sorry to say none. I played on it when I first got it and it sounded great. Then I decided that I would adjust on it awhile and make it sound even better.Being the novice that I am I got it so far out of adjustment and was not able to get it back, got frustrated made some regrettable statments and in general embarrassed myself. I am sending it back to chuck and I am sure he will get it all straightened out.On a lighter note,(no pun)It is beautiful and like I said "sounds Great" especially when I use the bar and not the wrenches. | A new guitar with these kinds of problems? Doesn't sound too impressive to me. A new guitar should be a "plug and play" item when recieved. Every guitar I have ever owned has been this way (even a used guitar I once bought at a Guitar Center). Except for maybe pedal height adjustments. |

| Hey Richard, we don't really know what caused this yet, sometimes it's just a thing of getting used to something new, I had a problem with my MSA D10 years ago when I first got it, I tried to tune it and got it clear out of whack and was frustrated, I went from a sho-bud maverick to this monsterous beast of a guitar, so tunning was a little different, Sonny Curtis was able to re-adjust it for me, and showed me how it was tuned, and there are differences on pro models and semi pro models in how they are tuned. steveb. |
