That isn't a Console Grande, it is a cheaper model called a "Consolette". |

Model number is C-530.
It is variously called a "Console" and "Consolette" in Gibson literature.
I sold the same model in very good minus condition on the forum for $550 plus shipping.
Yours is beautiful!

As stated above, it's a Gibson Console C-530, often referred to as the "Consolette." According to Gibson shipping records, 229 C-530s were produced beginning in 1956, and were available through 1966.
Indeed a very beautiful instrument, especially in the condition it appears to be in. |

The one labled as "Consolette" had P90 style pickups and did not have the red or black push-buttons. _________________ RICK ABBOTT

I'm no expert and valuation is not an exact science. The value of a steel is what the buyer is willing to pay for it! But I've been paying close attention to the post-war Gibson lap/console market for awhile now. I'd put this somewhere higher than Jim's $550 and somewhere lower than the $1,100 paid on eBay. The condition gets you a premium for sure, but I would be surprised to see this go for even $1,000. If it were mine, I'd start at $900 but be open to other offers. But that's just me and again, I'm not laying claim to any sort of expertise.
EDIT: I bought my Console Grande C-520, which I believe is a higher grade model, in 9/10 condition, on the forum in November 2013 for $1,000. _________________ 2 cheap dobros, several weird old lap steels, and one lifelong ticket to ride on the pedal steel struggle bus. |

Hi guys. Thanks for all the input. I just want to get fair value for it if I sell or trade it. But with it possibly only being worth a thousand I'm thinking I'll probably put it up on the site as 'best offer or trade' takes it. It needs to be with someone that will play it. Thanks again. |
