It is with a very heavy heart that I share the news that Charlie Norris passed last night, Feb. 7, about 9pm. Charlie was the founder of the Texas Steel Guitar Association. He and Shirley worked tirelessly for many years to share music with others.
Services are pending and we will post when we have more information. Please keep Shirley, the family, and the TSGA in your thoughts and prayers.

Albert Talley
TSGA President

This is very sad news. Charlie helped me get started on steel. I remember the first time I met Charlie. I went to his store looking for a pedal steel. Had no idea what to buy or what I was even looking for. Charlie helped me get into a Sierra student model. I payed half down and he financed the other half.
As I started to leave the store , without the guitar , he made me put it in the case and take it. This is the kind of guy he was. I took lessons from him for a long time after that.
This was the beginning of a long friendship with him and Shirley.

Praying for the family,
Ron

I am deeply saddened by this news. Charlie was always so gracious and helpful whenever I attended the T.S.G.A. Jamboree in Dallas. My thoughts and prayers are with the Norris family. God Bless Charlie Norris, may he rest in peace.

I too wish to express my profound sympathies to Shirley and the family. Charlie invited me to play on the Texas show years ago, a dream that I thought would never come true, yet he made it happen! For that, I will be eternally grateful! I never, took for granted an invitation, to be a part of "The Texas Show" in the following years I was invited to be on it! He was definitely one of a kind and had a heart for steel players. I'll bet he and Gary Hogue have a lot to talk about!

There are too many things I could say, and no words that could, truly, express just what Charlie meant to me. He was the first person who ever believed in me, and he changed my life. Rest in peace
Our prayers are with Shirley and the family.

We will miss you, Charlie. Charlie was really a kind and supportive guy. He helped me when I started West Coast Steel Guitar in the late nineties. The TSGA will miss this man.

RIP, Charlie. I'm grateful to him for his many years of dedication to steel guitar and for giving this Yankee a small foothold in Texas many years ago when he didn't know me from Adam. My condolences to Shirley and their family. He has left his mark but he will be missed.

RIP Charlie. I met him the first year I attended the TSGA, 1997 when it was still Harvey downtown. I saw Charlie at the show briefly last year or maybe 2013. He did not look well. I am glad I got to speak to him then, shake his hand, and thank him for his contribution to the TSGA organization and event.

My heart is so saddened by this news. Charlie will be sorely missed. Last time I saw Charlie was the 2010 Dallas show. We hadn't seen each other in a very long time and I was afraid he might not remember me, but he did. He gave me a hug and said, "Hey, young'un! Still playing under Gary's influence?" When I said yep, that I was guilty, he laughed and said, "Someday we're going to have to have a long talk about that!" Charlie always liked to kid me about wanting to play like Gary Hogue. I will miss him greatly, and remember him always. Rest In Peace, Charlie. My prayers go out for his family.
