On Jerry's Album "Steel Guitar Favorites" he did a song titled The Jitterbug Waltz. I love his rendition of it. If anyone is familiar with this song could you guess the tuning he used? It sounds to me like the entire song could have been done on steel.
That's one song I'd love to learn.

It doesn't make ANY DIFFERENCE what key JERRY chose to play it in.

There are certain string affects that he occasionally inserts in his solo's and that's only for 'affect' or variety in the song. In those instances, he might have to play a song in the key of "E" or "A", occasionally "G".

YOU can play it in any key you might desire.

If you have a RECORD PLAYER.........put the record on it, start it playing and attempt to determine what chord positions he's playing.

From there you can easily determine his key of choice.

Deirdre, JW was composed by pianist Fats Waller and has been a favorite of musicians for many years. It would work on 6 string or 8 string in any number of tunings depending on how you would want to arrange it.

Link to Google search results.

C6. I tabbed that one out some time ago, don't think I ever published it anywhere online.

I love playing that song. There are lots of ways to get around the neck for that one. It was a slant challenge for me.

Would anyone have tab for this song? I am not at the point where I can figure out songs yet.

I'll bet there is a JB arrangement available somewhere.

I checked and couldn't find any tab of mine. I know there are several ways to play this--one with more slants than the other.

Thanks for checking Mike. I was just curious on how you approach it as compared to me. That is what is so cool about steel players, there are so many ways each player can approach a song on the instrument.

i'll see if i cant dig a transcription out - i know i have played this on mandolin for years (jethro burns version) and i'm pretty sure i did one of either JBs or by ear from how i did it on mandolin.

if i'm not mistaken, there is a twin guitar part in there that may 'fool' the ear on JBs version - been a while since i messed with it.
