Greg, I posted this back a few months ago. I had this album at one time. I believe the steel player was Jim Baker. He did a lot of Starday/Gusto recordings.

It was Jim Baker. Jim did quite a few sessions for Starday/Gusto back in the day; but most of them, went unnoticed-the dj's wouldn't play them. Jim was well respected amongst the Nashville pickers. Jim later went to work for Mel Tellis's Sawgrass publishing company. His wife, "Sootie" charted and arranged a lot of the special event shows as well.
