Hi all,
Well, since I started playing pedal steel again and received my BMI S10 w/pad E9th left-handed guitar, I have again spent countless hours trying to configure this thing perfectly with it's 5 levers and 4 pedals. Trust me, I tried almost every change, and finally feel very comfortable with this setup. It is a great balance for playing classic country, B6th swingy stuff, and a bit of modern sounds. The guitar actually came with another Left Knee Right far lever installed, but I found it very uncomfortable with trying to avoid using it with the other Left Knee Right inner lever, so I removed the far one. Let me know what ya think:

Steve, you don't feel you need to lower # 6 on any of your knees ??? Martin.

| Hi Martin. I do like to lower the 6th sting a whole step, but I can live without that change. To get the 5 chord, I will just drop two frets and raise E's to F's with A Pedal. I am raising F# to G# which allows me to get the 2nd to 3rd interval swoop sound, and it is convenient to play on the zero pedal. Also, using zero pedal with A pedal while in the B6 mode (dropping Es), acts like ABC pedals (in open position) when activated while releasing E to D# lever. Then, when back to just lowering E's, lowering 7th string a half step is just like lowering B (in open position). Really opens up some doors for me. |

well, its certainly an unusual setup.. I couldn't play it, but to each his own.. I have enough trouble with the first 3 pedals, and the E-Eb lever!.. I give you credit for some outside the box thinking... bob

Been doing a bit more tinkering and am going to change to the following setup. I like the zero pedal idea of Norm Hamlet to get those cool Ralph Mooney licks.

| Is it a whole step or half step? Been watching tony Browne playing crying steel and he is doing something with his r inside knee leaver that I can't figure out. Any help on this? Thanks. Larry |

| The one thing that would not work for me is that you would have to roll your ankle to the left while moving your knee to the right - to get the normal he E-->Eb + pedal 2 (B7th) position. (ankle inversion with thigh adduction) |

Left handed, Tony. So it's not the pedal leg that's moving right.
