I am the owner of the charcoal gray Emmons Legrand that Bruce boutin used on some of Garth Brooks recording. And possibly Ricky Skaggs records, you can see it on YouTube Ricky Skaggs london concert, they were playing highway 40 blues. I traded with Bruce in 1992, it has eight pedals, eight levers. Bruce call me a while back was interested in owning the guitar again. May be for sale later.

I actually played a mid seventies push pull on the Live in London concert. I used that LeGrande on a few records , most notably Shameless, in the nineties, before I swapped with you. It was a good guitar. Not sure what I was thinking at the time:)

Hi Bruce
I bought a guitar a few years ago with your name attached to it. Apparently it was used by you on some of the early Brooks recordings as well? Did you once play a Franklin D-10...midium color wood grain, not sure what to call the shade?

Saw Garth and Tricia on opening night in Boston Thursday. Before the show I saw Bruce tuning up so I got his attention. He came right over and talked to me for a while. He was playing his black Emmons Legrand and showed me his beautiful Scantic River lap steel. We had a nice talk.
The show was great. Bruce played pedal for all those classic "Garth licks" and a lot of lap and 6-string. He was really wailing on some of the lap solos and swaps with the tele and fiddle. It was a real high energy show and Bruce was definitely into it. Looks like the technicians had to swap out his pedal early in the show - seemed to be cutting out.

| Bruce's work on Garth's records is awesome! The steel intro to "Shameless" sounds awesome, and every time I hear it, it makes me glad I started playing steel. I'm also a fan of a song Garth did that featured Bruce called "Learning To Live Again Is Killin' Me"-in the middle of the song, after a little piano part right after the chorus, Bruce plays a solo that I can't get out of my head-I've taught myself how to play the solo. And, another favorite steel intro Bruce played is the steel intro to "That Summer-it's also a great example of Bruce's steel work, and his steel licks in the second verse and outro to "You Move Me" is awesome! |
