The deal is the material the bar is made of. It is a steel bar covered with some type of plastic. Bar shape is pretty standard. I am currently making a experimental bar as it appears tribo tone is out of business.

Niels, I like Steve's powder coated bar. Not sure how it compares to the Tribotone.

Niels, if you promise to send it back after an evaluation, I can send you my powder-coat SDF. I think it's powder over steel, but I'm not sure.

I have 2 new Tribotone bars in Tribotone containers.

One is a yellow Manoloff bar 19mm x 76mm. It has no ID number.
One is a red bar 17mm x 72mm with ID number M357 (Jerry Byrd?).

Please let me know what you need.

By the way: Where can I buy ARMOR-ALL to polish my standard size Tribotone bars? Or what is an equivalent product?

Alan, Thanks for the info. I called Eric up today and broke the news to him. He was relieved but was concerned about how his girlfriend was going to take it.

The rumors of his death have been greatly exaggerated.

He is not making them currently but is putting his shop together at his new place. He plans to get back to it when he can.

To all,

I am alive and well. Did not pass away. I did experience a nasty divorce and had to move away from my wonderful machine shop where we built the Tribotone bars and slides. All the machinery and raw materials on on a new site just outside Austin Smile

UPDATE
I've been playing A LOT of guitar with the extra time I've had not having to build Tribotone bars. I've finally got the Capital to build our NEW SHOP and will be building my best bars ever come late Summer 2017 God willing Smile Stay tuned and thank you all for my time off and the great music!!! I plan on building the Tribotone bars for many years to come. Eric Ebner

Great news, Eric. Cool

My Tribotone is my favorite tone bar. I use it for pedal steel, non-pedal steel and resonator.
By the way, one of its attributes that is seldom mentioned is that, in very cold weather, it doesn't freeze your hands like a traditional nickel-plated steel bar does.

Yes Alan they are easy to play in cold weather! Very little thermal conductivity. One reason why the material can be difficult to work with. We use cooling fluids during all cutting and shaping processes. We plan to have a "slab party" during the pouring of the shop floor Smile Can't wait... Eric

I will be looking forward to ordering a Tribotone too. I have one and it's amazing.
I will watch for them to go on sale again.
