Polished Knob Guard ~ Nashville 112 ~ Stolen

To the person that came into the Justice room and stole the only polished knob guard I had right off of my Nashville 112, you are a brave man, not a smart one though. I remember your face and your the only person to ask "where did i get it"
My prayer is, I hope you become so convicted with guilt that you stick a check for $25.00 in the mail made out to Fred Justice of course.
So, you might steal material things from me but your not going to steal the joy and peace I have in my heart, God bless you.
Don't forget, I know you by sight, so I'll be seeing you. Very Happy

As a rule in general, we have a very special community of loving, caring peaple in the steel guitar world, but no matter where you go you will find the devil trying to turn things upside down.

I try to think of us as an above average segment of society. Occasionally, somebody proves me wrong. This is such a specific need item, hard to imagine a non-steeler needing one, or even knowing about the item.

So this guy actually unscrewed this from your amp ? Wow....

Sorry for your loss, this guy is not just a lowlife, small time thief , but an idiot as well. I hope he can never feel comfortable at a steel show. All for a knob guard.

Perhaps the hotel still has their security tapes, or the perpetrator can be ID'd from the numerous photos that no doubt were taken at the event.

Hope you are able to nab the thief. Sheriff Joe may be able to find him some room in a tent for awhile.

Fred, I agree, this is pretty bad when a steel player at a show also works double duty as a petty thief.

Do you have any other reason to suspect the guy that asked "Where did you get that?' This doesn't in itself mean he was the culprit, in my opinion. He may have just been simply admiring it and might have been interested in purchasing one sometime. I don't know if the real thief would have wanted you to know that he had taken a "shine" (no pun intended) to the polished bar.

I am not familiar with what is involved to remove the guard. I assume a screwdriver would be required. I am not familiar with the security of the vendor's rooms at the hotel or the vendor operating hours. Is it feasible that a hotel employee (maintenance?) could be the guilty party? Maybe they saw a shiny chrome thing that they thought would look great on something they owned or were building. (motorcycle?)

Seems like a steel player would have had to go to his car, get a screwdriver, then wait for an opportune time when the room was closed. And without knowing if there were security camera's or not, take a chance. It would take a pretty dumb crook (maybe it was his first job)to take such a gamble on a $25.00 item, especially something that he could not just quickly pick up and put in his pocket. A hotel employee would have known whether there were security camera's or not. Was the room locked when the theft occurred?

I wasn't there and don't know the details like you do, so please forgive me if I am butting in where it is note of my business.

I just hope you catch the guy and post his name and a photo on the forum's Wall of Shame.

Year before last, Jerry Newberry had a $500 Telonics volume pedal nabbed at SWSGA. Same guy took the power cable to a Telonics pedal from someone else.

It was located in a pawn shop and Jerry got it back, thank goodness. My buddy, the pawn shop detective for the Austin PD, allows as how the majority of the merchandise that people lose in burglaries that gets returned to them is through co-operation with pawn shops.
