I just learned this morning that Chuck died in a house explosion in Branson last nite. Chuck was the drummer for Mel Tillis for years. Chuck was a good friend and great person. RIP my friend. Prayers to the family.

I also heard the news this morning. Chuck was a good friend and this is a shock. I had just worked with him this past Monday. My prayers go out for all of his family and Mel Tillis and the band. He will be missed.

Eddie, do you have any details? Was he the only one who was killed?

Thanks Eddie, I just heard that Regina was in the house also and is in critical condition. I ask all of our forum brothers to pray for her healing.

Chuck had been working here at the shop for most of the last year, and his son Zach and wife Regina had also helped out from time to time, along with Eddie Lane who has been helping me for quite some time.

To say that this a heartbreaker would be to put it mildly.

Getting to know Chuck better has been a treat in a number of ways. We shared a love of fishing and hunting, cooking good food, listening to music, enjoying a good joke or witty remark, and doing a job well and with pride. He was giving me tips on cajun cooking and I was giving him tips on making noodles. We spent some great time over at my little lake cabin this summer. I'm sure he could catch a fish out of a beer bottle.

He was getting to be a very good craftsman, having been responsible for building guitar cabinets and some light machining. And of course there were always some good "road stories" from his thirty plus years of being a professional musician.

Chuck had been very happy lately, having gone through a period of getting his life in order. His last day on this earth was spent at the shop, working with his headphones on listening to a playlist for a Saturday night job with a local band. We quit at 5:00, hung out until 5:30 listening to some songs and trying to recall all the variations we had heard over the years on the old song "Hold It". We talked about how well his son was doing in the music business. We planned the next day's work, looked forward to good evening meals on a cold winter night and said our fond goodbyes.

The fire was reported at about 9p.m.

He was in a good place with the Lord from what I could tell. He loved his family and friends, his music, and life. Rest well my good friend, we will all be there in just a little while. You touched a lot of lives in your time here. I'll miss your big smile and hearty laugh.

Such a fantastic drummer. Got to play with Chuck when I worked the steel shows at the Baldknobbers Theatre. Such an energetic fellow. Smiling, joking, just an all around great guy. I'll miss that Cajun smile and those tasty drum licks Chuck put into every tune. RIP my friend.

Prayers going out to Chuck's family. Terrible news indeed. Although I never met and knew him, I knew him by his music. Just a superb drummer loved by all. RIP Chuck.

This is shocking news. Chuck will be missed.

I got to know Chuck when I lived in Branson. I my opinion he was the best country drummer in the midwest. As I understand he was just married recently and his wife was burned in the fire that was caused by the explosion. Please pray for him his wife and Family.

Rest in peace, my friend. It was a privilege to have this wonderful guy laying down the perfect groove on your set. As Doug said, we'll join you in a little while, but you'll be missed.

I pray the Lord provide grace, peace and mercy to Chuck's family during this time of grief and heartache.

Tragic news. I never met Chuck but remember him from the Ozark Steel Jam many times. He was a great drummer/musician.
May God give peace, comfort, and healing to his wife and family, and bless all those that morn his loss.

This is terrible news. I got to play with Chuck on several of the Branson steel shows. To play on stage with Chuck just felt like I had made the "big time". He was a joy to play with and be around. In a way I am sorry I looked at the Forum tonight. This is a terrible loss.

Oh No! This is just horrible news. My prayers to Chuck's family. To hear of these great musicians passing away saddens me greatly. I pray too that Chuck's wife will be OK.

Chuck, I'm thankful for all of the times I had the privilege to play music with you and talk to you. May you rest in peace and save us a spot on that big stage where you are now. God bless you.
